Our Thoroughbred Aftercare Program is a sanctuary for retired racehorses, providing them with a safe and nurturing environment after their racing careers have ended due to age or injury. We work tirelessly with trainers, owners, and racetracks to ensure that these horses have a secure alternative when their time on the track is over.
Our commitment extends beyond the racetrack. We also focus on rescuing Thoroughbreds from high-risk situations such as kill pens and auctions. Our dedication lies in giving these sentient beings the dignified life they deserve, far from the perilous circumstances they may otherwise face.
Once under our care, we rehabilitate these horses, nursing them back to health. We also retrain them, helping them adapt to a life away from racing. Our goal is to rehome these horses, finding them loving families where they can enjoy a peaceful and fulfilling life.
However, some horses may not be suited for a second riding career. These horses find a permanent home with us, living out their days in our sanctuary. Many of these horses become integral partners in our equine-partnered health and wellness programs.
These programs use the therapeutic power of human-horse interaction to help people heal from emotional traumas, rediscover their purpose, and develop stronger leadership skills. Children participating in our programs build confidence, improve their reading skills, and find a safe space where they are seen and heard.
In essence, our Thoroughbred Aftercare Program is more than just a refuge for retired racehorses. It's a transformative journey that brings together humans and horses, fostering healing, personal growth, and a profound respect for life.
